Port of Kissamos
Land Transport and Travel To and From Port Kissamos
(Kissamos, Crete, Greece)
A coastal road connects Kissamos to the rest of Crete. Once in Kissamos, the port is only three kilometres away and quite easy to get to.
There is public transportation, including buses and taxis, which will take you to the port. Depending on the season, it is also possible to walk, but it can get very hot here, making walking impractical.
Travel by Bus and Shuttles
There is a regular bus service from Chania to and from Kissamos. The journey by bus takes about 1 hour, 30 minutes. Buses leave Chania every 45 minutes and tickets are reasonable priced. Fewer buses run on the weekends. Buses from Hania run on a 45-minute schedule except on Saturdays and Sundays, when services are more sporadic. It is also possible to hire a car or taxi to get to Kissamos Port.
Car Hire and Road Travel
There are a few car rental services available at Kissamos itself, but you can hire a car from Chania, Heraklion, at the airport or in the city of Heraklion, and at other nearby cities. From here, it is possible to drive to Port Kissamos.
Car Parking
Both long and short-term parking is available near the port.
Travel by Taxis
Taxis are available and can be hailed in the street, but there are not many to be found. Many vacationers hire a car or take a bus to Kissamos and then walk around the small town.
